When we flew in Buenos Aires, we had already booked our stay in the district of, Palermo, the biggest and trendiest neighborhood for sightseeing in Buenos Aires, and it offers tons of accommodation and activities for day and night. We took our pick of a furnished apartment, althogh we might have chosen hostel, hotel or apart-hotel, which range in price and type. Right outside our doorsteps,we had great restaurants, trendy designer stores, fun pubs, bars and clubs. Palermo has subdivisions including Palermo Soho aptly named after Soho in New York City, and Palermo Hollywood, after all the TV, radio and film companies that have their studios there! As for our Art Nouveau love and interest we found in The cafe Tortoni a great place in AVENIDA DE MAYO 829 ,an art nouveau building that houses one of the oldest literary cafes in the city, and typical Tango and also jazz bands played at night....we just went there over and over! The avenue where this spot is situated is still and has been the stage of social marches since it was designed at the end on the 19th century...there are sumptuous buildings to admire on the way...
Then the cool Florida Street was our fav,it's the city's most important commercial area, where we found pretty cool clothing, leather especially, nice shoes for my girl! And plenty of record stores to find specials and unique recordings...Then it just lit up in the evenings with many street artist entertaing passers by with btheir tango dancing improvised shows!
