El Gorosito, a monument to the oil worker, stands imposingly in the centre of town. Sculpted by Pablo Daniel Sánchez and inaugurated on 13 December 1969, it is the town’s symbol.
Visit the Man and his Environment Museum which exhibits a collection of various traditional artefacts. The museum also houses the reconstruction of a typical house, depictive of the region’s lifestyle.
For nature lovers, a visit to the Natural Reserve—established to preserve the area as well as the bird species—is a must. The Municipal Natural Monument to the Southern Sea Lion is also a must-visit. Other sites of interest include the Old House, Parque Neighbourhood, Pedestrian Circuit and Panoramic Point.
Festivals and feasts include the Nautical and Tourism Festival in January, the Caleta Olivia Anniversary towards the end of November, the National Festival of the Patagonian Worker in May and the Winter Festival. Each festival celebrates the city’s heritage.
