Tourist Guide Mesopotamia
Mesopotamia is a marshy, wet region in north-eastern Argentina. It is also a part of the Brazilian central plateau.
Mesopotamia, also called Litoral or Region Mesopotamica, comprises the provinces of Misiones, Corrientes and Entre Ríos. It is bordered by Paraguay and the Chaco region in the north, the Pampas region in the south and west and Brazil and Uruguay in the east. The Parana and Uruguay Rivers are two water bodies that flow through the land.
These two rivers give the land its name ‘Mesopotamia’, or ‘land of the two rivers’. The region witnessed a massive immigration of European settlers in the past, which saw the dilution of the Indian and native tribes until it was reduced to hardly 5% of the total population in the region. Mesopotamia enjoys a vibrant, colourful culture that attracts party-lovers from all over the world.
