Tourist Guide Noroeste Argentino
The Argentine Northwest (also called Noroeste Argentino or NOA) is a region in Argentina.
The Argentine Northwest comprises the provinces of Jujuy, Salta, Tucuman and Catamarca. The terrain is diverse and includes fertile valleys, canyons, the Puna/Altipano plateaus and the Andes. National Parks in the region include Baritu, Calilegua, El Rey, Los cadones and Campo de los Alisos.
The culture of Northwest Argentina is greatly influenced by the cultures of the Quechua and Aymara tribes. The inhabitants of the region tend to be silent and gentle, yet on festive occasions, they put on their best attire and hold celebrations steeped in rich local folklore. The roots of pre-Columbian culture share a strong legacy with the traditions of the Puna region and are reflected in the indigenous ruins, artwork and colonial architecture.
