Tourist Guide Puerto Santa Cruz
Puerto Santa Cruz is a major port of the Santa Cruz province in the southern region of Argentina. It is located along the River Santa Cruz, close to the spot where the river enters the ocean.
The climate in this region is dry. The average temperature during summers is 13°C and during winters is 3°C.
This small town with a population of approximately 3,000 inhabitants is primarily a rural community. Industrialisation of the port for fishing is the mainstay of its economy.
Although Puerto Santa Cruz’s accessibility as a natural harbour spread attracted many ships over the centuries, it did not have many permanent settlers. In 1879, the Argentine government attracted settlers by offering attractive bonuses to those volunteering to settle in the region.
