There are several places of interest in San Antonio de Areco: the Ricardo Guirales Gaucho Museum, which portrays the life of the gauchos in the past; the Creole Park, with its display of structures typical to the community; the Usina Veija Cultural Centre that hosts several cultural activities; and the picturesque Carlos Merti Flora and Fauna Park.
The banks of the river provide ample fishing opportunity to fishing enthusiasts. Excursions to the farms in the outskirts may be organised to sample the authentic rural life complete with the setting, activities and cuisine.
All along the streets are handicraft workshops where articles are fashioned out of various precious metals, coir and leather. The shops attached to these sell these articles.
San Antonio celebrates the week of Argentine tradition every year in November. The festival includes a parade and folk dance and music performances.
