Tourist Guide Huatajata
The picturesque town of Huatajata is located at an altitude of 3954 m above sea level on the south-eastern shores of Lake Titicaca in Bolivia. Lake Titicaca is the highest navigable fresh water lake in the world.
The climate is cool and pleasant due to the high altitude. Nights are often chilly in Huatajata, and it rains practically throughout the year.
Huatajata has a population of approximately 3,700 people. The majority of inhabitants are of Amerindian descent. The predominant tribes are the Quechuas, Aymaras, Chiquitano and Guarani.
This town’s culture is its single biggest attraction. The Amerindian culture has been preserved down the centuries and people still live and work here in the same manner that they used to hundreds of years ago.
