Plaza Murillo is situated in the heart of the La Paz city and is named in honor of Pedro Domingo Murillo. He was the Bolivian patriot and also a forerunner of the Bolivian independence.
This is the main square of the city and the monument is a 3 meter high monument of Pedro, who met his fate when he was hung in 1810. Today, this square is a favorite place for the rest of the city dwellers.
The main amusement is to feed the pigeons who feel as the rightful owners on the square.
