Tourist Guide Sucre
The city of Sucre is located in the south central part of Bolivia. Sucre is the former capital of Bolivia, the capital of the Chuquisaca Department and the seat of the Bolivian Supreme Court.
The city lies at an altitude of 2,800 metres above sea level. Due to the high altitude, the climate is pleasant and mild. Average temperatures in the area are around 20°C.
Sucre has a population of approximately 247,300 people. A majority of the populace has descended from the indigenous Amerindian tribes of the Quechuas and the Aymaras. Other ethnic groups include the descendants of the Europeans and other mixed groups.
Sucre is a centre of tremendous cultural significance. It is also the seat of the Catholic Church in Bolivia. The culture is a fascinating mix of ancient Amerindian traditions with Spanish influences.
