Sucre has been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO due to its tremendous cultural and historical significance. This fascinating city attracts thousand of visitors every year.
The city has many important historical buildings and monuments. The most notable among them are the Casa de la Libertad, Palacio de la Glorieta, Universidad Mayor de San Francisco Xavier, Cathedral, San Francisco Church and San Miguel Church.
The city also has a number of fascinating museums where visitors can view a variety of exhibits on the art, culture and the history of the city. The most popular museums are the Museo de la Recoleta, Museo de Charcas, Museo del Arte Moderno and Museo Antropologico.
Sucre is surrounded by many native villages, each with its own unique attire and traditions. The most famous of these villages is Tarabuco, where the festival of Pujllay is celebrated with great pomp and splendour in the month of March.
