Beaches

Buzios has a large number of beaches that have different conditions like deserted or crowded, mild or cold, shallow or deep, without or with waves. Also there are 4 yacht clubs and every year there are a dozen competitions and events like the Buzios Sailing Week. Some of the prominent beaches are listed here.

Geriba

This is a fashionable beach having a length of 4 kilometers that has several restaurants and bars and is very famous amongst youngsters.

Ferradura (Horse Shoe)

This is a good place for children as it is a tranquil bay that has beach houses and kiosks.

Olho de Boi (Ox eye)

This is a deserted beach that can be accessed only by foot from the Brava Beach. It has a nudity area.

Brava

There are huge waves on this beach and hence is a good place for surfing.

Joao Fernandinho

This is a semi deserted beach where water is trapped between the rocks forming several natural pools.

Joao Fernandes

This is a vibrant and crowded beach that has several rocky outcrops. Local fish and lobsters are served at kiosks.

Praia dos Ossos (Beach of Bones)

This beach is known for the several windsurfing and sailing competitions that takes place round the year. There is a glass bottomed boat on which one can take a tour to view marine life. Igreja de Sant’Ana is a church on the beach that dates back to 1740.
