Fortaleza Cathedral de Nossa Senhora da Assuncao is considered to be one of the main significant religious buildings in the city Fortaleza, Brazil. The Fortaleza was constructed by the Dutch in 1659. It is constructed in Gothic-Roman style and has set an impressive example of Gothic-Roman architecture. It is the third biggest church in Brazil. The towers of the Fort resemble the ones in the Gothic churches, while the square shaped dome has a traditional Roman style. The is a home to the small museum, dedicated to the life of General Antonio de Sampaio, the national hero who played an important role in the 19th century War of Paraguay. Around the fort is a small village which has now grown up as the fifth largest city in Brazil today. Visitors, locals as well as tourists, feel at home whilst visiting Fortaleza Cathedral de Nossa Senhora da Assuncao in Fortaleza. Other than that, the site is worth visiting for total relaxation.
