Itaipu Dam
The Itaipu Dam is constructed on the Parana River and is a hydroelectric dam. It is located on the border of Paraguay and Brazil. The meaning of Itaipu in Guarani language is “the sound of a stone.” In honor of this dam, a symphonic cantata has been composed by an American named Philip Glass. This dam has 20 generating units each of 700 Mega Watt and thus the total capacity is 14 Giga Watt.
Parque Nacional do Iguacu
The Parque Nacional do Iguacu or the Iguacu National Park is famous for its wildlife, which is particularly birdlife and comprises of endangered and rare species. There is also a huge waterfall and a major part of it is located in Argentina.
As this park has five kinds of forests and bio-systems in the same location it is a unique place in the world. This park has been declared as a UNESCO World Heritage site.
Igassu Falls
The Igassu Falls waterfall system is comprised of 275 falls along the Iguazu River over a length of 2.7 kilometers. A large number of these falls have a height of 64 meters. However, some of these are 82 meters high. Only one thirds of these falls are in Brazil and the remaining are in Argentina.
The most imposing of these waterfalls is the Garganta del Diablo which is on the border of Brazil and Argentina. It flows from a cliff of length 700 meters, width 150 meters and height 82 meters.
The other attractions worth visit are the Oman-Ibn-Al-Khattab mosque, which is the biggest mosque outside the Middle East and Bosque Guarani which is a zoo in the city.
