Goiânia: Attractions and more...
Thirty percent of the city’s area is covered in trees, wooded areas and parks. The main park in Goiânia is the Bosque dos Buritis, enclosing three artificial lakes and local Buriti palm trees. The Goiânia Art Museum is located in the park grounds. Another park is the Parque Mutirama, which has walking trails and jogging routes along a hilly terrain.
The Anthropological Museum contains archaeological exhibits and ethnological material on various Native American tribes. Another interesting museum is the Ornithological Museum, which showcases about 8,000 specimens of animals, including 6,000 birds.
For a unique experience, you could try shopping at the Hippie Fairs, an open-air market held every weekend. Visit Praça Tamandaré (Public Square) to have a look at local artwork and handicrafts.
For the music fans, there are two music festivals held in the city, Bananada (in May) and Goiânia Noise (in December).
