The best time to go to Porto Alegre is in winter, because summers are very hot.
From the Matriz Garden you can have a beautiful views over the city; around this gardens are locates the Catholic Cathedral, the Governors Palace, the State Parliament and the Justice Court.
In the south of the city you can find the Parque Farroupilha, where on Sunday mornings there is a large market called the “Brique da Redencao” .
In Porto Alegre you can also visit the Museum of Art of Rio Grande do Sul; the Arquipélago (Archipelago); the Botanical Garden; Saint Hilaire Park. In the centre you can find also historical buildings as the “Casa da Junta” with baroque characteristics.
The cuisine of this city is heavily Indian influences: one popular dish is “Caruru do Par” a one pot meal of shrimp, onion and tomato. Seafood and tropical fruits are used to prepare the local dishes.
