The Mount Pascoal or the Easter Mount , a 1,742 foot hill was the first sign of land that the Portuguese saw when they discovered the country in 1500. The tropical rainforest on Monte Pascol has led to it being deemed as a conservation unit. It is also home to the Pataxo indigenous tribes. Two trails lead to the park which is located in Southern Bahia 150 km from Porto Seguro.
