A night out on a budget in Rio de Janeiro, the most visited city in the southern hemisphere, must start with the enigmatic Lapa district, Rio’s bohemian district.
First off, for an affordable dinner head to the local corner shops which sell hamburgers, hotdogs, beans, rice, fruit shakes, pizzas, etc.
After dinner look to local spots such as Rio Scenarium, a laid back bar and casa de shows that attracts both locals and internationals, for great Brazilian music and that tingling atmosphere that proceeds a night of dancing. The locals drink "chopp," a draft beer, a good bet for those on a budget.
To stretch the party into the night look to "Gafieiras", Rio’s samba halls. Carioca da Gema is one of the most popular and combines excitement of Samba with a relaxed and open attitude.
