Pelourinho is a city within Salvador. This is nicknamed Pelo by the natives and it is the older part of the upper city or Cidade Alta of Salvador. This city has many blocks around the triangular Largo and is a perfect location for nightlife, dining and for music. This area was the old slave auction location during the days when slavery was common. This city is also a place on the national historic register and is named a world cultural centery by UNESCO.
