Avenida Paulista was originally laid out in 1891 and had villas of coffee barons along with industrial magnates. At present, this street is a compact mass of concrete which has high rise blocks and the roofs serve as helicopter landing pads or has radio aerials. This is also a business and finance center and has developed into a cultural life. This street is considered as one of the most vital avenues in Sao Paulo in Brazil.
