The capital of the Atacama Region is known by the name of Copaipo, which also holds an important place in the province of Copaipo. This town is found near the Atacama deserts in Chile, a country in South America. The town is more than 400 years old and was founded by Jose Antonio Manso who was declared as the governor of that province at that time. It has a different topology, i.e. on one side; it is surrounded by the Atacama Desert whereas on the other hand it is close to the coastal city of Caldera, which also has a port harbour. The climate here is dry and hot due to the presence of the desert winds. There is very less rainfall here for the same reason. It also holds some part of the Copaipo River, which even dries up for some part of summer. This town has a great amount of natural resources. The rich metal ‘Silver’ is found in abundance here and this place is considered as a heaven for the people who indulge in the mining industry.
