Rano Raraku is a volcanic crater which was formed out of consolidated volcanic ash and is located in Terevaka lower slopes. The craters are situated in Rapa Nui National Park on Easter Island. It was at first a quarry for almost 500 years until early eighteen century. Rano Raraku is also in the world heritage site of Rapa Nui National Park giving its name to one of the seven sections of the park. The sides of this attraction are quite high and steep except of the north side and the North West side, where they are lower and gently sloping.
