Chile’s diverse culture is best experienced through its festivals. The Festival of the Virgin of The Song, a five-day festival held to venerate an indigenous woman who converted to Catholicism, combines both Christian and Inca traditions, featuring dance and music. Santiago is the site for the world’s largest elecronica dance festival, the Santiago Loveparade.
Festival of Contemporary Chilean Music, started as a national event, has now transformed into an international one, attracting performers from Germany and France. The Feast Day of Saint Sebastian is celebrated with a lot of fervour, drawing 300,000 faithful followers.
Apart from Antofagasta International Film Festival, a celebrated film festival, Chile’s International Short Film Festival is one of the most renowned film festivals in the world.
