Tourist Guide La Serena
La Serena is a commune in the Elqui province and is also the capital of the region of Coquimbo. It spans a large area of 1,892 sq. kilometers. It is present to the north of Santiago. It has a population that stands strong at 190,716 inhabitants. It was founded by Juan Bahon who was a captain of Spain in the year 1544. The rise in the population here clearly indicates how well this area is developing and there are rises in the cultural section as well as the economic sections. The foundation of this city has been raised on many oceanic terraces; otherwise the geographical land of this city is based of small hills and plains which are very fertile. The city breaks up into two parts, the ‘Compania Alta’ and the ‘Compania Baja’. The climate here is very stable and also there cloudy mornings. Rain here is in the form of drizzles. The maximum temperatures can go up to 20 degrees. Trade and tourism are the major economic activities here.
