Plaza Des Armas
Rating:

The history of the splendid Plaza Des Armas can be traced back to the era of Pedro de Valdivia.
During that time there was a closed off area in the middle for protecting weapons and ever since the square has been named Palza Des Armas.
It is from this spot that all the distances in the country are calculated.
The entire region is surrounded by beautiful parks that stand as a testimony to the country’s history.
It is also a home to important structures such as the Home of the Governors of Chile and the Real Audiencia.
The Plaza is also flanked by the city’s Cathedral on one side and the statue of Pedro de Valdivia on another.
Artists exhibiting their wares can be seen in the square.
On one corner, visitors may also find fortune tellers with their cards and instruments. Just beside them, there may be an artist mimicking the passers by.
His entertaining activities often attract a large crowd of up to 300 people.
