The coldest months are July and August, and the rainy season is in May. Temperatures during the summer fluctuate between 23°C and 13°C, while in the winter temperatures are between 17°C and 6°C.
The most interesting part of Valparaiso is the old section and its many hills; here you will find colonial buildings, galleries, museums and churches.
You must visit the Naval and Maritime Museum that is the best museum of the country; you can also visit the beautiful church of “La Matriz” that is one of the main sights of the town. La Sebastiana is the Neruda’s house, today a museum.
If you take the “funiculars” you can reach the high part of the city with its colorful hillside houses.
One of the highlights of Chilean cuisine is its diversity of seafood, that is cooked in many way, grilled or stuffed. “Pastel de Choclo” is a typical Chilean dish.
Valparaiso has a sub-tropical climate; on the coast, the weather is temperate while in the central sector is hot.
