Viña del mar is known for its beautiful parks, including the Quinta Vergara. In the midst of the Quinta’s carefully-landscaped grounds, is the Museo de Bellas Artes, housed in a turn-of-the-century mansion. Also worth a visit is the 61-hectare Jardìn Botànico Nacional, home to an enormous variety of native and exotic plants and flowers. One of the most romantic ways to tour the city is on the traditional Victoria, a horse-driven cart.
Viña is at its liveliest in the summer, when concerts and festivities abound. The discos remain open until dawn and the numerous casinos offer world-class gaming. Shopping opportunities abound, as Viña is home to many of Chile’s finest boutiques.
Viña is famous for the five-day Musical Festival of Viña del Mar, which is held every year in the third week of February.
The New Year firework display a dazzling and unforgettable sight is another must-see and a memorable way to bring in the New Year.
