Bello is situated in Valle de Aburra, the department of Antioquia and is a municipality in Colombia. It is bordered towards the West by the towns San Jeronimo and Medellin, towards the South by the Municipality of Medellin, towards the East by the town of Copacabana and towards the North by the municipality of San Pedro de los Milagros. The gross area of the city is 142.36 square kilometers out of which urban land is spread over 19.7 square kilometers and rural land is spread over 122.66 square kilometers. The urban region is an incline that descends 1.6 to 1.4 kilometers above sea level. Bello is located in the Northern region of the valley.
As per the 2005 census, the population of Bello was 371,973.
The temperatures are moderate resulting in a warm climate which is affected by gentle winds all through the year. The average temperature is 23 degrees Celsius and the average rate of precipitation is 1347 millimeters.
