Bogota' in a Day
Bogotà is such a lively city, and the high altitude together with a fast pace of life in town can leave you, and locals too, in need of some rest and relaxation!
In one day a must see in the Gold Museum, it houses the most fantastic collection of Pre- Colombian gold artifacts. After seeing the museum you might want to hang around the area for a while; it's full of lovely parks and 500 year old barrios to see....cool stuff like that to inspire you!
Then you might get the tram up to Monserrate quarter, and catch a spectacular panoramic view of the city, or instead take a walk in La Candelaria historic quarter: it's just a short walk from the museum.
A great place to go is the Gabriel Garcia Marquez Cultural Center; Colombians are so proud of their Nobel Prize winning author whose works are celebrated throughout the World! You can get a nice cup of great Colombian coffee in the open air cafe there...and get some relaxing time...
Another great Museum to check out is the Botero Museum; Ferdinando Botero is Colombia's most famous artist and best known really for his "on weight" subject of painting as in sculpture (mainly for plastic and expandind colour). The museum includes also works by Picasso, Monet, Renoir and Matisse.
