Medellin’s historical traditions are evident in Pueblito Viejo, a squared section of the city with homes and shops preserved as they were 100 years ago. The city is famous for Botero Museum, whose namesake is arguably the most renowned modern artist alive, while Museo Interactivo a stylish museum offering ‘immersion experiences’ is replete with exhibits that utilise new technology.
The Festival of Flowers is the most important festival held every year in early August.
Its nightlife, called ‘Rumba’, begins in earnest on Thursday night and reaches full tempo on Saturday night. The bars in Parque Periodista, a popular city square, play music from reggae to alternative rock, with revellers spilling onto the streets.
For a sumptuous culinary experience ‘Tipico Antioqueño’, topped off with a Colombian beer and a cup of chocolate Hatoviejo is an ideal eatery.
