The Colombian department of Atlantico has a town and municipality called as Soledad. The Municipality of Soledad is in the intertropical or torrid zone and is 5 hours of difference as compared to the meridian of Greenwich. It is bounded by the Municipality of Galapa to the West, the Municipality of Malambo to the South, the River Magdalena to the East and the Industrial and Harbor District of Barranquilla to the North. Soledad is situated at a distance of 3 kilometers from Barranquilla. A natural border of these two districts is the stream called “Don Juan.” The area of this city is sixty seven square kilometers. The major natural resource of this region is the River Magdalena that bathes all the Eastern margin of the Earth.
The population of Soledad is 455,029 as per the 2005 census.
