Tourist Guide Tunja

One of the oldest cities in Columbia, Tunja was formerly the seat of the Chibcha Indian Kings.  It was founded in 1539 by Captain Gonzalo Spanish Infantry Suarez Rendon Carlos V. In 1818, Simon Bolivar defeated Spanish Royalists near Tunja.  Some of the industries here include mining and agriculture. Tunja was also the center for many events and characters in the Columbia history. It has a population of around 120,000 inhabitants.

The sea level in this city is 2730 meters and highlights its colonial churches, some convents and has historic centers too. The average temperature of Tunja is 12 degrees Fahrenheit.  Annually, there are events like the umbrella at parties which is held in the month of December and its visitors are the inhabitants and the outside tourists from around the world.

Some of the sites which one can go and visit is the Catedral Metropolitana, Church of San Ignacio and many more historic places and museums.
