Tourist Guide Ibarra
Ibarra a market town set in Ecuador’s Inter Andean region and the capital of the Imbabura province is located approximately 45 miles north-east of the capital, Quito.
Founded in 1606 by the Spanish, Ibarra has a population of approximately 137,000 inhabitants. The region has a pleasant subtropical climate, with temperatures oscillating between 23°C and 26°C.
Spanish is the official language; Quechua and other Amerindian languages are also widely spoken by the indigenous population.
While the predominant religion in Ecuador is Catholicism, many communities have preserved their ancient beliefs of nature worship.
