The fine weather, cobbled streets and the colonial white-washed houses—earning it the moniker The White City make Ibarra a popular destination.
Culture enthusiasts can visit the museums to appreciate the paleontological, numismatic and philatelic displays.
Visitors can also try the delicious local cuisine served by the restaurants, apart from the numerous clubs in town. Ibarra also offers opportunity for adventure; trekking, windsurfing, kayaking and horseback riding are just some of the activities available.
The town hosts two colourful parades, El Pregón and Virgen del Carmen, held annually in July as well as many festivals particularly, the Fiesta de los Lagos and the Fiesta de la Jora, which celebrates the harvest and honours the sun in September.
