Street food is not easy to find in Quito as Ecuadorians prefer sitting down to long meals. Nonetheless, there is a couple of specialities one can find dotted here and there.
First of the list are Empanadas, a bread crust filled with beef, chicken and vegetables. They are common at public events or gatherings; if not, hit the bakery and you will be sure to find them.
Another option is Shawarma, one of Ecuador's favourites. It is not tipically ecuadorian but middle easter immigrants have made this tradition very popular. It is made up of pita bread with spiced chicken tomatos and gerkins.
A third and last option, and probably the most common of all, is Papas con Cuero (potatoes with pork skin): they are cheap and very available, unfortunately the taste is not of the best.
