Riobamba is a city in Ecuador, also known as the "Cradle of Ecuadorian nationality", "Sultana de los Andes", "Heart of the Land" for its history and beauty, is the capital of the province of Chimborazo. It is located in the geographic centre of the country in the Andes at an elevation of 2754 meter, near several volcanoes such as Chimborazo, Tungurahua, Altar and Carihuayrazo.
The city was founded in 1534 near the lagoon Colt. He later moved to the place it occupies today, for a brief period after the founding of the Republic of Ecuador, which was the capital of the county.
According to the 2001 population census, the city had 134,808 inhabitants and 209,830 inhabitants, all Guangzhou. The area bounded by the perimeter of the city is 1150.2 km2.
