The ideal months for visiting Machu Picchu are from June to October as the weather is mild during this time of the year. We recommend to take a raincoat or umbrella to protect yourself from the rain.
You can start to discover Machu Picchu from “The Citadel” , that combines the visual and spiritual force of magnificient natural scenery, with the diversity of a historic sanctuary. The ruins are situated in the eastern slope of Machu Picchu in two separate areas.
From the peak of the Huayna Picchu, situated opposite Machu Picchu, you can enjoy a panoramic view of the ruins and the Urubamba Valley.
You will find the “Temple of the Moon” , on the lower part of Waynapicchu. Other spectacular mountain are: “Puente Inca” ( Inca Bridge), “Putucusi” , “Intipuncu” (Sun Gate).
In Machu Picchu is also possible to restore yourself, having a confortable bath in the “Thermal Baths” : there are natural underground, hot sulphur springs and are well known for their medical properties.
In Perù a meal tipically consist of an appetizer and main course, like “cubiche de pescado” , “papaia a la Huancaina” , “lomo saltado” , “arroz tapado” . Tipycal dishes of Machu Picchu are salads feautures “quinoa” , an ancient Inca grain.
The “leche asada” with milk and vanilla extract, is a typical dessert. Pisco, is a type of clear brandy produced in the Inca region of Perù.
From June to October the mornings are warm with brilliant sunshine, though it can get quite cool in the shade. At night temperatures can drop to 10º C.
From December to April showers are common, followed by bright, intense sunshine.
