Mineral resources and coastal waters provide Peru with great money-making opportunities. Exports are the main source of income. The country exports metals, petroleum products, coffee, potatoes, asparagus, textiles, and live animals. It imports petroleum products, plastics, machinery, vehicles, iron and steel; wheat, and paper. The average cost of living in is not very high. Travel and accommodation are easily available. However, medical care is quite expensive.
