The Larco Museum is probably my favorite place in Lima, and I would definitly recommend this tourist attraction as the first thing to do while in Lima.
It is the kind of place you don´t forget, the setting is like a fresh oasis. The gardens are amazing, no wonder why they won the prize of the best garden in Lima. It is full of lovely flowers, humming birds, tropical plants and ivy branches!
In the gardens, do not miss the Café del Museo, it is just perfect to have a drink after a visit in the Museum. The museum is incredible, the collection is massive: the storage area is like a giant artistic library: you will find thousands of ceramics piled up on various shelves.
They have the best collection of gold, silver and jewelry of ancient Peru. In the end the Erotic gallery is really fun. The experience there is really different from all the boring visits you can have, The Larco Museum is very well organised and explained in a didactic way. I would say it is definitly a good start when you travel Peru as you will learn a lot about all the pre-Columbian civilizations from all the areas of Peru.
A fascinating experience!
