Tourist Guide La Paloma
The seaside town of La Paloma is located in the department of Rocha in Uruguay. This small fishing port, on the Atlantic east coast of Uruguay, has a population of about 3,000 inhabitants.
La Paloma, a laid-back maritime community, is a summer tourist retreat for Argentineans, Brazilians, Chileans and Europeans. This sleepy hamlet has developed into a little fishing village and has a quaint—almost surreal or remote—charm.
Characterised by a temperate climate, La Paloma has mild summers and winters. The weather changes are rapid owing to the vast open land. It rains fairly evenly throughout the year. During the summer months, from December to March, sunscreen is extremely important.
In 1520, Spanish colonizer Fernando de Magallanes discovered the area of La Paloma.
