Tourist Guide San Gregorio de Polanco
San Gregorio de Polanco, a city in the Department of Tacuarembo, is located in Uruguay. Situated on the margin of the Negro River, the city is made up of a number of prairies. With a population of around 3,000 inhabitants, the city serves as a major Uruguayan tourist centre.
The city experiences a uniform climate characterized by the four seasons—spring, summer, autumn and winter. The city enjoys fair amounts of rainfall throughout the year.
Officially founded on 16 November 1853, the city transformed itself into a major agriculture and cattle rearing centre within a short period. The first hospital in San Gregorio de Polanco was inaugurated in 1928.
Agriculture, fishing and cattle rearing are the most popular money earning sectors. The city also manages to bring in a large amount of tourists every year.
