Barcelona offers several attractions for people of all interests. The city is home to numerous excellent architectural landmarks from its colonial period which makes it a haven for history lovers. The major collection of these buildings can be found around the Plaza Boyaca area.
Museo de Anazoátegui built in 1671 was the first building in the city and is worth visiting. An eighteenth-century cathedral the Iglesia El Carmen is a must-visit site. Along with the structure, its background is also known for its beauty.
Casa Fuerte, a nineteenth-century building, has been listed as a national historic monument for its historical importance as well as its grandeur. The building was constructed during the War of Independence. El Morro is an important recreational centre in the region. It is a good place for cruising and enjoying a romantic holiday.
A short visit to the nearby town Puerto la Cruz is a good way to end the trip with.
