Guayana: Attractions and more...
The city parks Parque Cachamay, Parque Loefling and Parque La Llovizna are the primary attractions in Guayana. Parque Cachamay offers spectacular views of the Caroní as well as many waterfalls and rapids. Parque Loefling is located within walking distance from Parque Cachamay and includes various caged/unrestrained native animals. Parque La Llovizna is situated in a group of islands that are well connected by foot bridges. Salto La Llovizna, a 20-m waterfall, is a must-see.
Guayana includes several aluminium plants, gold and diamond mines, hydroelectrical stations and iron and steel works. An exhibition of Venezuela’s hydroelectrical resources and the geography and Indian culture of Guayana region can be found at Escomuselo Del Caroni.
Other attractions include the Municipal Market, Guri Lake (one of the world’s largest lakes), Zoologicico Loefling (a zoo with anteaters, capybara and tapirs) and Casa San Isidro.
