Cerro El Avila

Cerro El Avila is a mountain guarding the capital of Venezuela from the Caribbean waters.
‘The green guardian’, as it is often called, has a pleasant annual average temperature of 23 degrees Celsius. Not many cities in the world can boast of a place with such diversity as the El Avila.
The mountain is heaven for explorers, nature lovers and adventurers.
The ‘Parque Nacional’, opened in 1958 and covering an area of 85,192 hectares has many places of interest.
The ‘El Pico Naiguata’ is a summit whose highest point stands at 2,765 meters. ‘El Camino De Los Espanoles’ is said to be the route the Spaniards took to enter the Valley of Caracas.
The only authorized commune inside the park is the ‘Galipan Village’. There are many historic ruins inside the park worth seeing.
Cable cars can take you to the top of the mountain. The ‘Mariperez-El Avila’ takes you to the ice rink, the disco and a luxurious hotel atop Avila, overlooking the Caribbean Sea and the valley of Caracas.
It is situated at a height of 2,153 meters.
