Overview to visit Caracas at its best
Hiking is one of the common outdoor activities in Caracas. Hikers often frequent Parque Nacional El Avila, a mountainous national park filled with trails. Changes in temperature and afternoon rains act as hindrances.
Some of the must-see architectures in Caracas are Iglesia de San Francisco, Catedral Metropolitana de Caracas, Panteon Nacional, Museo Sacro de Caracas, Casa Natal and Museo Bolivar, El Capitolio Nacional, Jardin Botanico and Hacienda Floresta. Ciudad Universitaria is regarded as a masterwork of modern architecture and art.
For gastronomical delicacies, visit Las Mercedes which boasts of some of the best restaurants. Some good cafes and restaurants can also be found in Altamira, Parque Central and Centro Sambil.
Pubs, bars and pools are commonly found in Las Mercedes. The Juan Sebastian Bar entertains the in-house crowd by playing live jazz.
