Tourist Guide Catia La Mar
Catia La Mar, a city in the Municipality of Vargas is located in Venezuela. Situated to the west of Maiquetia, the city of Catia La Mar lies close to the Simon Bolivar International Airport. With a population of around 100,000 inhabitants, the city is home to a number of beaches.
The city experiences a mild subtropical climate characterized by a dry and a wet season. The wet season lasts from May to November and the dry season from December to April.
Named in honour of the cacique Catia, who was contemporary of the popular Guaicaipuro, the city of Catia La Mar is home to the Centre of Naval Training Felipe Santiago Estevez and the Marine University of the Caribbean.
The main sources of economy of the island are the commerce, transport and tourism industries.
