Tourist Guide Coche Island
Coche Island, an island in Nueva Esparta, is located in Venezuela. Situated along the Isla Margarita, Coche Island is located in the Caribbean Sea. With a population of around 8,200 inhabitants, the island is a popular Caribbean tourist destination.
The city experiences a mild subtropical climate characterized by a dry and a wet season. The wet season lasts from May to November and the dry season from December to April.
Discovered in the late fourteenth century by Christopher Columbus, the island was inhabited by pearl fishermen only in the sixteenth century. The island also witnessed a battle between the Indian pearl draughters and the Spanish rulers from the Margarita Island in 1728.
The island mainly depends on tourism, which is the island’s largest money-earning sector. Fishing is also widely practised.
