Colonia Tovar, with its rich German influence and unavoidable resemblance to Southern Germany, is a must-visit Venezuelan destination. The whole city is made up of a number of small streets and off-white buildings with wood architecture. While vacationing in the city, make sure to take a stroll along the mountainside for a unique experience.
One of the most popular attractions here is the La Iglesia de San Martin Church which is made of stained-glass windows and wood carvings. Another popular site is the Museo de Historia y Artesania.
The city is home to a number of excellent restaurants and hotels that serve authentic German food along with some local beer, candies, marmalades and strawberries. It also houses a number of small shops and boutiques that sell local handicrafts.
One of the most popular festivals in Colonio Tovar is the annual music event Festival Internacional de Musica de Camara. Carnaval is also celebrated.
