Maracaibo: Attractions and more...
The dry season, between December and April, is the best time to travel. In Summer there are high levels of humidity, and more rains from June to September.
A nice place to go is Maracaibo Lake, which is the dominant feature of the oil – rich Maracaibo Basin.
In Maracaibo you will find museums and fine galleries as “Lia Bermudez Art Center”, the “MACZUL”, “Conoce tu Puente Museum”, and don’t forget the Theatre of Fine Arts.
You can also visit the “Vereda del Lago” park, a big green park where you will enjoy a magnificent view of the lake.
Typical local dishes are: “hervido” (meat and vegetable soup), “empanadas” (with meat), “parilla criolla” (marinated beef). Fish is served grilled or smoked, with “chipi chipi soup” .
The “merengada” is a dessert that consists of mixed fruit, ice and milk.
The climate of Maracaibo is hot, humid, and at times oppressive. Temperatures maintain an average of around 30° C, and most establishments in the city close in the middle of the day for siesta.
