Maracay: Attractions and more...
One of the main attractions in Maracay is the Henri Pittier National Park, a lush rainforest named after a Swiss naturalist. Two winding roads cut through the park; one proceeds towards the beach town of Choroní and the other, towards Ocumare de la Costa and the beaches of Cata and Catica.
The military holds a great influence over Maracay. Consequently, Maracay has the two biggest Air Force bases in Venezuela. Besides, the Faculty of Veterinarians and Agronomy of the Universidad Central de Venezuela is also found in Maracay. Tourists often visit the Anthropological Museum, the Aviation Museum, the Opera House and the Museum of Modern Arts ‘Mario Abreu’.
Maracay’s restaurants specialise in food which tantalizes and teases the taste buds. Some restaurants offer good and cheap food—a pleasant surprise for food lovers.
Maracay does not offer any nightlife. There are a few bars and cafes that play live music for their customers.
