Safety and Warnings - Puri
Since most of tourists are strangers to Puri, they must take special care while making a stay in the city. The beach area is safer. However some parts of the sea are tricky.
These parts are dangerous to those who don’t know swimming. Such tourists can take professional help from the local fishermen called as "Nulia". These people charge some amount for helping you swim for nearly 30 minutes.
Always try to bargain with these people, as they may charge more than they deserve. The beachside is filled with local people who sell fried fish. These delicacies look tempting as first sight; but should be avoided being unhygienic.
Puri gets crowded with visitors especially at the time of New Year and Christmas. The hotels get booked for days leaving no space vacant for other people.
Always book hotels in advance during peak season to avoid frustration and disappointment. Jagannath temple can be visited by everyone, but non-Hindus can't enter inside.
